Activities :

Jothi Eye Care Centre has dedicated itself in helping the poor and the under privileged through several eye screening camps and free surgeries. It has organised several eye camps for the school children.

Eye Donation Fortnight Activities :
From 25 th August to 8 th September 2007 several activities to propagate the message about eye donation during the National Eye Donation Fortnight were carried out by Jothi Eye Bank run by Jothi Eye Care Foundation at Jothi Eye Care Centre . They are as follows:

1. Eye donation educative programmes were conducted at various schools, each day in the Assembly. Banner was displayed and stickers and posters were put up in their notice board.
2. Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes in Puducherry and Cuddalore were educated about Hospital Cornea Retrieval Programme and given Educative Programmes, Posters, Stickers and Pamphlets on Eye Donation.
3. A podium with Eye Donation pledge forms, with a box to drop the filled up forms was kept at the Hospital veranda itself. Banners and Posters were also displayed at the Hospital and other prominent places.
4. A television advertisement, running for a minute, with famous Miss World and Cine Star, Aishwarya Rai motivating people for Eye Donation was put up.
5. All staff members and related people at Jothi Eye Care Centre wore “Donate Eyes” Batches throughout the fortnight.
6. All these activities highlighted the Universal toll-free phone no: 1919 for general public to contact for Eye Donation and Information.
7. Cinema slides on Eye Donation displayed in all shows in all Theatres during the fortnight.
8. On 1 st September, Stickers and Pamphlets on Eye Donation made by Jothi Eye Care Centre were released by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Puducherry Thiru.N. Rangasamy , and these were received by the President and Secretary of the Bus Owners' Association, Puducherry, to be displayed in all the buses and autos plying in and around Puducherry. This had an excellent media and TV coverage.
9. On 4 th September, Stickers were pasted in all the buses and with the permission of the Station Master Mr. Balakrishnan, banner was put up in the railway station and stickers in the train.
10. On 7 th September, a Rally by the NSS students from various schools with the permission of the Director of School Education Mr.Rakesh Chandra and the State Liasion Officer, NSS, Mr.Rajan, inaugurated by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Sreekanth, Thiru R. Siva MLA, Counsellor Thiru.V. Govindaraj and Dr.Chandramouli, HOD, Ophthalmology Department, Government General Hospital, Puducherry, led by Dr.Vanaja Vaithianathan, Secretary, Jothi Eye Care Foundation and Director, Jothi Eye Care Centre, proceeded from Kamaraj Statue to Gandhi Statue at Beach reciting slogans about eye donation with good media and TV coverage, creating an excellent awareness about eye donation.

4. A team of Fathers and Primary School principals headed by the Arch Bishop were given Educative message, which was to be passed on to their respective schools and students.
5. Cinema slides on Eye Donation displayed in all shows in all Theatres during the fortnight.
6. A television advertisement, running for a minute, with famous Miss World and Cine Star, Aishwarya Rai motivating people for Eye Donation was put up.
7. A stall was put up at Anna Thidal Exhibition, organized by the Lions Club of Pondicherry which did free screening for the general public visiting the exhibition and also created awareness about eye problems, care and eye donation with stickers, posters and pamphlets.
8. All staff members and related people at Jothi Eye Care Centre wore “Donate Eyes” Batches throughout the fortnight.
9. All these activities highlighted the Universal toll-free phone no: 1919 for general public to contact for Eye Donation and Information.
10. On Eye Donation Day (8 th September) Stickers and Pamphlets on Eye Donation made by Jothi Eye Care Centre were released by His Excellency Lt. Governor of Pondicherry, Mr.Mukut Mithi , and these were received by the President and Secretary of the Bus Owners' Association Pondicherry, to be displayed in all the buses and autos plying in and around Pondicherry. This had an excellent media and TV coverage.
11. A Rally by the NSS students from various schools, inaugurated by the MLA, Om Sakthi Segar and Dr.Chandramouli, HOD, Ophthalmology Department, Government General Hospital, Pondicherry, led by Dr.Vanaja Vaithianathan, Secretary, Jothi Eye Care Foundation and Director, Jothi Eye Care Centre, proceeded from Kamaraj Statue to Gandhi Statue at Beach with good media and TV coverage creating an excellent awareness with slogans about Eye Donation.
